DM Genie/Player Genie Documents Folders

As of version 2.25, DM Genie and Player Genie use a personal documents folder to store your campaigns and other data, including your Core Rules campaign. When you first start the program, you will be asked to create your DM Genie documents folder. You can use the default location (under a new DM Genie subfolder in My Documents), or select any other folder.

The Core Rules campaign will be copied to the My Documents\DM Genie\CoreRules folder. Any new campaigns you create will be placed (by default) to My Documents\DM Genie\NameOfCampaign .

If you update DM Genie, the next time you run it you will see a dialog saying that your installed Core Rules version is older than the newly installed version, and can copy over the Core Rules files for you. ONLY DO THIS if you did not modify your core rules campaign; otherwise, you should update your core rules campaign manually.

An advantage of this new method is that DM Genie and Player Genie will keep user-specific settings, so several people could use it on the same computer (with their own registration codes, of course). Also, administrator privileges are no longer required to run the program (although an administrator account is still required for installation). This makes both programs more compatible with the typical Windows Vista and Windows 7 user setups.
